  4. I’m really beginning to like this site. Seems you are doing a lot of hard work and research if this country cared about its people this should already be done for us. But thanks a lot.
    Nina

    • Thanks so much for the feedback, Nina! Yes, I do a lot of research and work to help get this information out to the masses. True, it really shouldn’t be THIS difficult just to eat! It’s going to take time, but we’ll get things back to how they SHOULD be :)

    • Great question, Katherine! About 20 of the 160 recipes in my book are not gluten-free or easily converted to gluten-free. About 10 of those are baked goods (e.g., Sugar Cookies, Banana Bread) and the other 10 or so are entrees or soups that call for “flour” to make a “cream sauce” (e.g., Shrimp Scampi, Cheesy Potato Soup). I’m not sure which gluten-free flour would work well for those recipes, but a gluten-free dieter may have some good ideas :)

Several others of my recipes contain gluten but can easily become gluten-free by using certified gluten-free oats, substituting a gluten-free (rather than whole-wheat) bread or pasta, and/or choosing a gluten-free soy sauce.

      Christy

      • I have used cornstarch for years to make cream sauces instead of flour. You just mix in 1 tablespoon with about 2 tbsp of cold water and then whisk it into your sauce.

  10. Hi!
I just ordered an e-edition of your cookbook and thought after using Pay Pal I’d be sent to the site to see how to activate/download the e-book. I wasn’t, though. Will it turn up soon? Thanks, Christy! Looking forward to pouring over the book!
    Mandy

  11. Hi – I’m wondering about your onion soup mix before I consider buying the cookbook. Does it contain bullion cubes?
    Thank you,
    Angel

    • Oh, gosh no! :) I don’t use bouillon cubes at all….they are full of garbage (as it seems you’re aware). :)
My Onion Soup recipe contains only REAL dry spices: dry onion flakes, onion granules, celery salt, garlic granules, etc.

      • Aside from the celery salt (which contains both celery seed AND salt), every spice used in my recipe has just ONE ingredient….

  12. I just ordered a hard copy of your book and I’m super excited! I have been searching for an additive free cook book with recipes that we’ll actually try for a while. Until I came across yours all I was finding were recipes I knew nobody in my family would touch. My husband and I just decided to try the additive free thing after years of unexpected weight gain and mystery fatigue. We were shocked when we started reading all the studies and research about what all those additives can do to a person. Thank you for coming up with a cook book full of additive free recipes that a “normal” person would eat!
    Connie

    • Thanks so much for your purchase! Your book will ship tomorrow and should arrive late this week. I had the same struggle in finding a book with “normal” recipes…that’s why I ended up creating my own :) I hope you enjoy all of the recipes and information I’ve put together! So, did you just happen upon me on the Internet??

      • I googled “additive free cook books” and eventually happened upon yours.

  13. I heard you on KFAB 1110 on the dial on Saturday 2/25 and am interested in doing this. I’m over 70 but feel I need more guidance in the food I put in my body. Could I get your book at The Bookworm Book Store in Countryside Village at 87th and Pacific? If I can what do I need to do next? You said Saturday that you actually will come into ones home and disect their kitchen and even cook. Could you get back too me on that.
    Lynda McGraw

    • Lynda,
Thanks for your interest (and for tuning in). Sounds like it’d be best if you give me a call, and I can help you decide which services will best suit your needs :)
Give me a jingle at 402-558-8411
      Thanks,
      Christy

  14. Hi Christy,
We were on a trip and heard you on KFAB 1110. I live in Beatrice and was wondering if there is anywhere locally-maybe even Lincoln where we can pick up a copy of your book? Thanks so much for all your hard work and time researching this subject.
    Gwen Graham

    • Unfortunately, my book is not currently in any retailers in the Lincoln area. I can ship you a copy for $10.85 shipping or the e-book is available online (and is fully printable) for $24.95. Sorry for the incovenience, but thank you for your interest. Unless you happen to be a member of the Nebraska Food Co-op??? I do sell the book through there and they may have drop-offs in your area??

  15. Christy,
I already own the cookbook. How can I get all of the other wonderful information without buying the new book that includes the recipes?
    Thanks,
    Mindy

  16. Hi – I just ordered your ebook. My toddler is allergic to wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs and peanuts and I’m having a hard time trying to find food for her to eat that the rest of us will eat too. But at the same time, most of what I see in the store is man-made garbage and cannot possiblly be good for her or us. So I’m on a quest for basic “real” food without her allergens. I’m especially looking forward to the onion-soup mix recipe. And the grocery guide. Thanks so much!

    • Super! I hope you enjoy the info and find some recipes that will work for her. You should join my other website, too, at CompletelyNourished.com. There are quite a few recipes there that are gluten-free/dairy-free…and I don’t generally eat peanuts, either, so there will be plenty more recipes coming that won’t have those either :)
